Applicate now for the Blended Intensive Program: Sustainability, Finance and Taxation!
What is the Blended Intensive Program?
The Blended Intensive Program “Sustainability, Finance and Taxation” offers an in-depth introduction to the financial and economic dimensions of sustainability. It equips participants with analytical skills and practical knowledge needed to understand current sustainability challenges and to evaluate policy instruments and financial tools designed to support sustainable economic and technological development. Central topics include ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria, sustainable and green finance (e.g., sustainability in financial institutions, funds for sustainable investments), ESG compliance and risk management, and taxation and fiscal incentives (e.g., carbon taxes, EU emission trading system).
The program consists of two complementary parts. The first part, delivered through six virtual sessions, provides a thorough foundation in sustainability concepts, financial economics, and taxation. These sessions bring together lecturers from partner universities within the EU GREEN network and introduce students to European approaches to ESG standards, sustainable finance, and environmental taxation. The virtual phase prepares participants for the applied and interactive elements of the program.
The second part is a one-week intensive program hosted at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. During this week, students participate in the CESIM Global Challenge, a strategy and management business simulation that integrates financial decision-making with sustainability objectives. In addition, they attend presentations by researchers and fellow students, engage in group discussions, and receive insights into current scientific research in sustainability, finance, and taxation. The program also includes visits to German institutions such as the Investment Bank Saxony-Anhalt and to companies active in the fields of sustainable finance or environmental management. These excursions provide practical exposure to real-world applications of ESG frameworks and regulatory instruments. Cultural activities complement the academic program and foster international exchange among participants.
